Statutory Holidays in Nova Scotia - 2017

(View Rules for General Holidays and General Holiday Pay in Nova Scotia)

In addition to the 5 National holidays (New Year, Good Friday, Canada Day, Labour Day, Christmas) there is only 1 Provincial Holiday, Remembrance Day. Employers are required to give this day off or an alternate day off in its place.

Optional Holidays

  • Natal Day - first Monday in August; not a statutory holiday but a common day off in Halifax only
  • Davis Day - second week in June (June 11) for remembering coal miners that died in the coal mines

Here is a list of Stat holidays for Nova Scotia and the dates they occur for last 4 years.
